Canobeam II Transmission Services, Sales, Rentals

Canon's Canobeam II provides for the transmission of multiple video/audio between two points. With an enormous list of features, the system sets up more easily than a single microwave path, yet can transmit up to 4 videos, each with 2 high quality audio channels. There also are 2 bidirectional subaudio channels for extending intercom.

Since the Canobeam utilizes safe laser technology, no FCC license is required nor is there any possibility of interference. This makes it especially suitable in areas with a high density of microwave signals. The narrow beam of the laser also makes unauthorized interception of the signal impossible.

Each end consists of two units: the optical head and the control unit. The two can be separated by up to 600 feet with a single RF coax cable that carries all signals and DC power to the head.

The weatherproof head utilizes active optics designed to compensate for building sway and vibration. There's even a video camera and flashing strobe in each head to permit fine aiming from the control unit even at night. Once aligned, automatic tracking keeps the laser signals locked, even with severe building sway.

Fast, simple set-up

All video and audio signals connect at the control unit. The control unit provides selectable outputs for quality monitoring of all video and audio transmit and receive signals; viewing the video camera built into the head, remote aiming adjustments, strobe on/off and distance adjustment of the laser beam.

The system can be configured for 3 videos in one direction with one return video or for two videos in each direction. The configuration can be changed in the field.

Range of the system is four kilometers (2.5 miles).

Applications include news and sports remotes; temporary or fixed paths between buildings; and feeding multiple sources back to a control room with a program return to the remote site.

The Canobeam II is available for purchase, rental, or as a packaged service.

Also available: the Canobeam III/DT-50 for high-speed data transmission. Please inquire.
